Corporate Governance

Project on Securities Laws Enforcement in Serbia

The Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE) has proposed to CEVES, a s a part of it's larger corporate governance initiative, a Project on securities laws enforcement in Serbia (.doc) (43 kB) which would fit into theirs wider international research project on securities laws enforcement in transition countries.

In this project we disentangle between the enforcement by the regulator (public enforcement) and by investors themselves through the courts (private enforcement).  The research agenda offers three methods to answer the question of What can be done to improve the enforcement of investor protection laws in Serbia?

Although we aim to use the methodology that is consistent with the methodology used in other transition countries within the broader, international project, we may ultimately develop a specific analytical framework that would be more adequate for corporate governance reality in Serbia , but at the same time compatible with the project's demands.

Anete Pajuste, Assistant Professor at RTU Riga Business School , is managing the overall project in cooperation with Erik Berglöf, Professor at Stockholm School of Economics and Director of SITE.

Katarina Veljović, Senior Researcher at CEVES, is managing the Serbia project. Other project team members are: prof. Boško Živković from the Faculty of Economics of the Belgrade University , Lidija Udovički, a lawyer and Marcus Svederg, Chief Analyst at SITE.
